Lauren & Jason travelled from the UK to Iceland for their September wedding — and were greeted by what was easily the windiest day of the year, but it was gorgeous and sunny. They got ready at Hotel Búðir with their closest people, wrapped in tartan, laughing over hair pins, kilts, and the anticipation of a wild, unforgettable ceremony.
Their ceremony was held inside the historic Búðir Black Church — intimate, warm, and filled with emotion and history. Guests stood side by side in the small wooden pews, bubbles filled the church as they walked back down the aisle, and the celebrations continued out into the dramatic Icelandic landscape.
Afterwards we explored the Snæfellsnes peninsula, stopping for portraits between bursts of weather — waterfalls, lava fields, crashing waves, long dresses flying sideways in the wind. The kind of day you can’t plan for, but one that becomes a favorite exactly because of that. Guests, bubbles, tartans, and landscapes — this Budir Snæfellsnes wedding was pure joy to photograph, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
A real Iceland wedding — raw, beautiful, joyful, and completely unforgettable.
