Planning a surprise proposal in Iceland is always an adventure, and Antonio and Dora’s story is no exception. From the misty allure of Kirkjufell to the serene beauty of Grundarfoss, this unforgettable day was full of love, breathtaking landscapes, and a bit of rain that only added to the charm. Here’s how this incredible day unfolded.
The Proposal Plan
Antonio contacted me in March, excited to plan the perfect surprise proposal. After a lot of back-and-forth discussions about locations, we settled on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, with the date set for May 27, 2024. However, as Antonio shared, the surprise didn’t stay a secret for long:
“Soooo, I kind of had to tell her that I hired you lol. But told her that I had planned for pictures. I think she knows it’s coming. Long story short, she kept insisting to do pictures, got sad that I said no. Then I just said, oh, I hired someone because we might not be there again in Iceland, so I thought it would be nice to do pictures there.”
Dora knew there was a photoshoot planned, but little did she know just how special it would turn out to be.

A Misty Start at Kirkjufell
We met up at Kirkjufell, one of Iceland’s most iconic mountains, on a particularly foggy and rainy day. Antonio and Dora had just driven through a mountain pass shrouded in mist, which made the journey a bit nerve-wracking for them. Despite the weather, the magic of the moment wasn’t lost.
The plan was to start with some photos at Kirkjufellsfoss and then head to another location for the actual proposal. However, given the nerve-wracking drive, Antonio decided to adjust the plan. I hinted that the current spot, with the mountain and waterfall in the background, was perfect for a proposal.
While they stood back-to-back for what Dora thought was just another pose, Antonio knelt down and proposed. The surprise and joy on her face were priceless! They had been together for many years, and this was the perfect moment to start the next chapter of their lives.

A Walk to Grundarfoss
After the proposal, we drove to Grundarfoss, a nearby waterfall. The rain continued, but it didn’t dampen the mood. As we walked towards the waterfall, we encountered sheep grazing peacefully and, to our delight, horses running across the fields. The scenery felt straight out of a dream.
The couple embraced the rain, and we captured some truly stunning photos of them with the horses and the breathtaking Icelandic landscape in the background. The mist and rain only added to the moody and cinematic feel of the shoot, making it a day to remember.

Why Snæfellsnes Peninsula is Perfect for Couples
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula offers some of the most diverse and breathtaking landscapes in Iceland, making it ideal for couples looking for a unique and intimate setting. From majestic waterfalls to iconic mountains and lush fields, every corner is a photographer’s dream.
This proposal shoot covered two popular locations—Kirkjufellsfoss and Grundarfoss—both offering their unique charm and making the day unforgettable for Antonio and Dora.

Rain or shine, Iceland has a way of turning every moment into something extraordinary. Antonio and Dora’s love story is a testament to the magic of this incredible country. Whether you’re planning a surprise proposal, engagement session, or elopement, Iceland offers endless possibilities for capturing memories that will last a lifetime.
