James and Hayley reached out to me looking for candid, action-filled photos to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary in Iceland. They dreamed of a Snæfellsnes Anniversary Photo Session that showcased both the rugged coastline and the iconic black church at Búðir. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to bring their vision to life!
Why Snæfellsnes for an Anniversary Session?
Snæfellsnes is often called “Iceland in Miniature,” offering dramatic cliffs, picturesque mountains, and a sense of timeless magic. That’s why it was the perfect spot for James & Hayley’s Snæfellsnes Anniversary Photo Session, as they wanted to capture their love of travel and the natural beauty of Iceland in one unforgettable evening.
The Day of the Shoot
Our plan came together for the evening of September 14th, starting around 5 PM. We were lucky with the weather: sunny skies and just enough wind to give that signature Icelandic flair to their photos! We explored two iconic spots—Arnarstapi’s dramatic coastal cliffs and the striking black church at Búðir. Each location gave us a different piece of Iceland’s magic, from scenic ocean views to the timeless silhouette of the historic church.

It was an absolute joy to watch James and Hayley laugh, explore, and take in every moment of their anniversary trip. Búðir Church Magic
Next, we headed to Búðir Church, famous for its striking black facade. The contrast of the dark wood against the golden fields and bright sky was stunning. James & Hayley cuddled up near the church, sharing sweet moments that highlighted their five years of marriage.
