Brandon contacted me ahead of their trip to Iceland with one clear wish — he wanted some ice in the background for his proposal. We planned everything together with Katlatrack, joining their Katla Ice Cave private tour in early September.
I arrived earlier to let the guide know it was a surprise, pretending to work with the tour company as a photographer for their guests. We took a few casual photos during the drive and then, once we reached the ice cave, the guide asked them to remove their helmets for a photo — that’s when Brandon knelt down and proposed. The glacier behind them was the perfect backdrop for the moment.
Afterwards, we explored the ice cave and nearby black sand beach, before driving back to Vík and ending the session at Kvernufoss waterfall. Diana changed into a dress, Brandon into a suit, and we captured a few more classic engagement portraits. On the walk back, a few curious sheep wandered past, and we couldn’t resist taking a couple of photos with them too — the best kind of ending to a day like this.

If you’d like to surprise your better half with a proposal & engagement photoshoot or take photos just because, let me help plan and capture it!
